Why the proper dehumidification of new buildings is so important
, From Patric Schroth, 1 min reading time
Drying devices are everyday tools on construction sites.
New buildings are usually dried in the event of impending delays. Short construction times and airtight construction often prevent timely natural drying. Construction drying serves not only to accelerate construction but also to eliminate and prevent damage.
Professional Construction Drying
"During the construction phase, a lot of moisture is generated, so that at the end of the construction period, there are approximately 1,500 liters of excess water present in a living area of 120 m². Painters, drywall installers, carpenters, tile setters, and floor layers often face serious moisture and, above all, scheduling problems. The solution: technical drying."
In principle, three factors have a significant influence on the success of a drying measure: temperature, humidity, and air flow. Warm material naturally has a higher evaporation rate than cold material. Additionally, warm air can absorb significantly more water vapor and lead it to the drying device than cold air. The transition of water vapor from the material to the room air is significantly improved by air flow. Operating drying devices at temperatures below 15°C and without the support of fans is highly inefficient. In cases of strong partial moisture, targeted airflow to the component through fans or heating using infrared heat plates leads to faster drying. Especially with very wet aerated concrete, only the silent heat plates deliver convincing results. Caution is advised with tiled walls, as the heat can cause the tiles to loosen.
Dantherm Group has powerful construction dryers and fans in its portfolio. The construction dryers from Trotec, for example, set standards in new building drying. The efficient cooling system ensures superior drying performance while maintaining a compact design. A maximum dehumidification capacity of 22 to 70 liters per day is a convincing argument. Together with the powerful axial fan TTV 4500 (5300 m³/h), the drying process is shortened by up to 50%. And with the faster drying process, the construction time is also reduced, saving real money. And who wouldn't want to save money quickly and easily?
