Thermostat plug for controlling dehumidifiers, air conditioning units, and heaters
The external hygrostat plug DST interrupts or allows current depending on the room temperature (functioning similarly to a timer, but temperature- not time-dependent). This allows you to automatically turn off dehumidifiers as soon as the room temperature becomes too cold (min. 5°C) or switch to the reverse function at the push of a button to control heating when the room temperature is too low (maximum 3680W).
By pressing a button, it can be selected whether the plug allows power when the temperature is higher than the set value (application example: dehumidifier, air conditioning units) or when the temperature is lower than the set value (application example: fan heater, frost guard, etc.).
Advantages of the thermostat plug DST:
1. Protection against icing of dehumidifiers in unattended operation in cold or highly fluctuating temperature environments
2. Temperature regulation of fan heaters
Functioning of the control of dehumidifiers:
The thermostat plug DST displays the room temperature. In dehumidification mode, you enter the desired minimum temperature to which your dehumidifier is set. If the current temperature is lower, the power is interrupted and the dehumidifier pauses until the room temperature rises again (lowest selectable value 5°C). Once the minimum temperature is reached, the plug supplies power to the dehumidifier again, allowing it to resume operation.
Functioning of the control of heating fans:
The Hygrostat Plug DST displays the room temperature. In heating mode, you enter the desired minimum temperature that must not be fallen below in the room (lowest selectable value 5°C). If the current temperature is lower, the plug continues to supply power to the heater until the desired target temperature in the room is reached.
"Why does the control usually only work with dehumidifiers that have manual control?"
"Dehumidifiers with electronic control fall into standby mode during a power interruption (except for some industrial devices with memory function) and must be restarted after the power interruption. Therefore, the DST plug is not suitable for these models. In contrast, dehumidifiers with manual/mechanical control (identifiable by a standard rotary switch) resume operation with unchanged settings, as before the power interruption (e.g., via timer or thermostat plug)."
Important: Please read the enclosed operating instructions before commissioning, especially so that you can recognize in which mode the plug is located, i.e. whether it is supplying power at a higher or lower temperature than the set value.
