The 420 is the most powerful dryer in the Bora series and has been specifically designed for intensive use in multi-family homes. With a drying time of just over three hours for two washing machine loads, depending on the selected fan speed, it is ideal for high-traffic drying rooms. Please note that this model does not have an adjustable heating function.
As the successor to the proven "Bora 320", the 420 impresses with its modern design and compact dimensions, which are identical to its predecessor. However, it has been extensively revised and brought up to date technically. The new, environmentally friendly refrigerant "R32" ensures improved energy efficiency. The ventilation can now be regulated in three stages, significantly reducing the noise level at the lower fan settings. Additionally, the 420 features a user-friendly touchscreen control and the option for Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing for comfortable control and monitoring.
Operation
The Bora features a clear, digital touchscreen control panel that can be set to various languages (German, French, Italian, English).
Drying programs:
By pressing a button, the drying program can be started. The dehumidifier runs until the laundry is dry and then automatically switches off. The pre-programmed target humidity value of 40% is suitable in most cases, but can otherwise be increased or decreased to any humidity value according to personal preference. Logically, the device operates until it can assume that the laundry is dry. Then it switches off. After a few minutes, it measures again with 1-3 control cycles using pure recirculated air to check whether the humidity value has increased too much, indicating that the laundry may not be completely dry yet. If so, the Bora dries again; if not, it goes into standby. Especially in drying rooms with only a small amount of laundry or with garments of varying thickness, this follow-up check can optimize the drying result.
Furthermore, the dryer features a general room monitoring system to prevent mold and odors in the basement. The device automatically activates whenever the room humidity exceeds the threshold for mold and odor formation of 60% relative humidity. This moisture level can also be adjusted as needed. Unlike the laundry drying programs, the dryer does not turn off completely in this mode, but only pauses as long as the humidity is appropriate. If the humidity rises again, the drying operation will also resume.
Specifically at Bora: The start time can be postponed if, for example, you only want to dry at the low tariff. There are also blocking times possible, during which the device never runs. Furthermore, there is the option for the dryer to automatically switch to room monitoring mode after the laundry drying is completed.
Supplementary heating ("H" models):
For a small additional charge, the device is also available as "Bora 420 H". The switchable 1000 W heater accelerates the drying of laundry in the cold season because warm air can hold more moisture than cold air. When the heater is switched on, it heats until a room temperature of 18°C is reached. Above 18°C, the heater is inactive, even if it is switched on. Therefore, the version with a heater only provides an advantage in rooms that fall below 18°C during the cold season.
Blower and fan stages:
The blower is a radial blower, which is placed in the upper area of the housing. It spreads relatively wide, but loses power in depth (in long drying rooms). The Bora is therefore particularly suitable for shorter to medium laundry hanging of up to about 5 m in length, which can certainly have a width of 2 m. The warm air stream should blow through the laundry below the clotheslines, so that it can sway in the wind. This causes the moisture to be released more quickly into the room air and can be captured by the dryer. The optimal mounting height of the Boras should therefore be slightly below the lines, which usually means about 1.70 m from the top edge of the device.
Selectable fan speeds:
Silent = Gentle / Quiet, consumption and drying time increase slightly.
ECO = Consumption and drying speed are within the average range of the specified performance data.
Fast = High air throughput for quick, efficient drying. The operating noise is clearly noticeable.
Air louvers: The front of the housing is fixed, meaning the direction of the airflow or the dispersion cannot be changed.
Direct hose connection:
The water drained from the laundry flows out through a hose connection at the bottom of the housing. The device does not have a built-in pump, so the hose must have a continuous slope to the drain. If no drain is available, the water can of course also be easily collected in a bucket placed under the device. We offer suitable inlet pipes and buckets for all Bora models in our range if needed.
Air filter:
The humid room air is drawn in at the lower part of the front. An industrial, durable filter mat is inserted in a fold-out door at the bottom. It cleans the air of coarse dust and lint, keeping the inside of the device clean. Should the material of the filter ever become exhausted, suitable replacement filter mats can be ordered from us at any time. With the new model, the hold and opening of the door have also been improved with magnets.
WLAN:
The WLAN connection allows you to display the BORA status via a browser on your smartphone, tablet, or PC. In addition, the WLAN connection enables you to access software updates. Of course, the operation can also be carried out as usual directly on the device without WLAN.
Compact dimensions:
The Bora is comparatively narrow and often fits into places in the drying room where other devices are too wide, for example between downpipes or electrical lines. Since all operation is done from the front, the Bora does not require any space on the sides or above.
Swiss Control:
"Its comfort control was designed by Roth-Kippe and is manufactured in Switzerland."
Funny gadget: "Anyone who does not want to get used to the new operator panel can switch to the familiar design at the push of a button. The operator panel on the display then looks practically identical to the push buttons of the predecessor model."
Ambient temperature
Technically, the "Bora" dryers can be used down to 8°C. Please note that the drying time for all room air dryers increases significantly the colder the room is. For optimal drying speed, temperatures of 15°C and above are ideal. The declared drying performance was measured at a room temperature of 20°C.
Scope of delivery and wall mounting
The assembly is very simple, as with all tumble dryers:
A support rail is fixed to the wall with 3 screws, and the Bora can then be easily hung. All necessary mounting materials are already included in the delivery:
• the ready-to-plug-in device
• Carrier rail with screws/anchors
• Hose connection coupling
• 2 m condensate drain hose
• Operating instructions
"An optional suitable inlet pipe with bucket is available if the water cannot be directly drained into a drain."
Both the support rail and the two buffers supporting the wall in the lower area of the device are insulated with rubber to minimize the transmission of vibrations to the wall. Due to the high dehumidification performance, we recommend draining the condensate directly into the drain with the hose (hose is included in the delivery). If you wish to use a bucket, please ensure that it has sufficient capacity (min. 8 liters) to avoid overflow during drying. If wall mounting is not possible, you will find suitable chassis in our range to which the dryer can be mounted.
